BECOME A SOUL DOG VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are the heart of Soul Dog's success. As a nonprofit, we rely heavily on the compassion, dedication and hard work of all our volunteers. Without you, we would not be able to do what we do best, save the lives of all these soul animals.

  • All Volunteers are required to attend an orientation and training shifts prior to volunteering.

  • Volunteers must be 12 or older.

  • Volunteers aged 12-16 must always be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who must also go through the full orientation process.

VOUNTEER PROGRAMS

Shelter Volunteer Program

As a volunteer at Soul Dog you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our shelter animals. Volunteers are an essential part of the shelter's daily operations, whether you are interacting directly with the animals or not. We have many volunteer positions varying from kennel cleaning to animal socialization, and everything in between. It's a big undertaking to run a rescue with so many precious souls relying on us to keep them safe, but it is worth every second of it!

Community Service Volunteer Program

Community service and group volunteering is a separate program. This is for anyone that can’t make the 6-month commitment such as school volunteers and corporate community team days. Because community service/ group volunteers receive an abbreviated orientation, they do not directly handle our animals. They will assist with the smooth running of our shelter and help with everything from dishes and laundry to cleaning up kennels and maintenance projects. Please email our volunteer coordinator to discuss this program further at volunteer@souldog.org

We are not taking court ordered community service volunteers at this time.

Become a Foster

Open your heart, and your home.  Fosters  provide a transition from shelter life into that of a loving home.  The animals in foster care learn in-home behaviors, work on potty-training, basic commands and socialization.  Fosters are vital in getting animals away from the stress of shelter life and give them a chance to shine.  To become a foster, fill out a foster application.  Any questions?

Volunteer at Events

Interested in volunteering at our adoption events?  We have weekly adoption events at PetSmarts in Westminster and in Littleton/Centennial.  Our volunteers help transport our animals, set up and break down the event, talk to potential adopters and take care of the animals while at the event.  Throughout the year we set up at larger adoption events as well.  If you are interested in helping out at these events fill out a volunteer application.

VOLUNTEERING AT RESERVATION CLINICS

Soul Dog is always looking for volunteers to support our clinics. If you are a veterinarian, vet technician, vet assistant or experienced animal handler interested in volunteering, we would love to hear from you. Volunteers are vital to the success of our organization and are rewarded in so many ways!

The success of our program depends on the generosity of volunteers and donors who support this important work.
